Brandywine in Salem, Connecticut.  Grandmaman would love to plant this bush in Central Alberta but looks like it is meant for warmer climates.  Zones 5-9.

September Ruby Apple Tree

A new September Ruby Apple Tree planted on May 17, 2020 in the sunny backyard in Norglenwold to celebrate Grandmaman and Papa's 46th anniversary on May 18, 2020.  Tristan dug the hole and planted the tree.  Ethan sawed down the no longer growing Mountain Ash tree with his DIY bucksaw and Reegan watered the tree.  Kevin helped Ethan saw up the old tree and Tristan and Grandpa hauled the branches to the neighborhood bin.

Ice out 2020

Historically the ice has melted completely on the ice as early as April 17 and as late as May 30.  Here are a few shots of the lake today May 6.  And yes Grandpa was out kayaking this morning at 7:00.  We thought the ice was completely out as we saw a post on Facebook that the ice was all gone.  But as it turns out the Mayor had not done his official drive around the lake and when he did in the evening he found ice at Sunbreaker Cove.  I will update the official date as soon as the Mayor announces.

Bronze Scarlet Canna Lily

Dug the canna lilies out of the front flower bed in Norglenwold in the Fall and overwintered the rhizomes in vermiculite in the basement over the winter.

Planted the rhizomes in potting soil in ice cream buckets.
