Canada Red Rhubarb

This Canada Red Rhubarb was planted May 22, 2019 in a front flower bed with a full west exposure in Norglenwold at Sylvan Lake.  It is known to be a super sweet variety and does not need as much sugar in cooking as other varieties.

Pansies

Bought these pansies May 22, 2019 at Dragonfly Greenhouses (Clearwater County). They spent time outside at the greenhouse so was able to plant them the same day. We've had some heavy frost the last few days but hopeful frost is finished.  Planted them in the front flower bed, facing west, with 3 canna lilies and 2 King Tut Grasses.
Deer ate the pansies on July 5, 2019.

Fruit Trees in Waimea

These trees grow in the backyard at the home of friends in the village of Waimea (also known as Kamuela), Kaua'i County, on the Island of Hawaii, USA. This garden is on the dry side of  Waimea.

We picked fruit from the papaya every morning for breakfast and often picked one for salads for lunch or supper.  The papaya is a large tree-like plant growing from a single stem from 5 to 10 metres tall.  The leaves are similar in shape to the plumeria but much smaller and wax-like.  The fruit is ripe when it is soft and has an amber to orange colour.
The pictures of this orange tree were taken in March.  The crop was plentiful and provided us with yummy oranges to take to the beach for snacks.

This banana plant had 3 large clusters of bananas when we visited in early March.

Jonathan Apple Tree

Oliver picked out his own apple tree (Appy)
and planted it in the backyard at his home
in rural Connecticut
 on March 16, 2019.
He loves that he can see it
from his chair at the kitchen table.

One day in late April 2019 Oliver's tree had a special visitor.
